- Notes
- a On November 23, 2007, the IAAF recommended to the IOC Executive Board to disqualify the USA women's 4 × 100 m and 4 × 400 m relay teams after Marion Jones admitted to having taken performance-enhancing drugs prior to the Games. On December 12, the IOC disqualified Jones and stripped her of her relay medals but it did not disqualify the U.S. relay teams. On April 10, 2008, the IOC disqualified both U.S. relay teams and asked for Jones' teammates' medals to be returned. All members of the U.S. relay teams except Nanceen Perry (and Marion Jones) then appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport who on July 16, 2010 ruled in favor of them. The court said that rules in place in 2000 did not allow entire teams to be disqualified because of doping by one athlete.
- b Medals awarded on April 28, 2010 after the Chinese competitor Dong Fangxiao was disqualified.

Archery
All three of the American men won their first matches. Two were defeated in the second round, but Vic Wunderle made it all the way to the finals before being defeated by home-crowd favorite Simon Fairweather. The squad was surprised by Italy in the team round semifinal, and was forced to shoot a tie-breaker against Russia in the bronze medal match to claim their medal. Karen Scavotto faced Denise Parker in the first round, guaranteeing an elimination for one of the American women.

Baseball
Team USA was represented by professional baseball players for the first time. However, there were no active MLB players because there was no Olympic break during the 2000 MLB season. The United States nearly went undefeated in the preliminary round of their third Olympic baseball tournament. Their only loss was to two-time defending gold medallist Cuba in the sixth game. In the semifinals, the Americans scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat Korea 3-2. The final was a rematch between the United States and Cuba. In a 4-0 shutout, the Americans defeated Cuba, winning the gold medal and giving Cuba only its second loss in twenty-seven games.
